Strang Fruit Vintage Pop-Up Shop

Strange Fruit Vintage is an online urban clothing boutique founded by the beautiful and talented Shalishah "Petey" Franklin here in Memphis, TN. I previously posted about it here on the blog.

Recently a Pop-Up Shop for the online boutique was held at Odessa. The space was transformed to pay tribute to the Pop art of Keith Haring, an avant garde artist close to the heart of Franklin.

“As a visual artist, I like to infuse not only the unique and memorable clothing from the eighties but also the entire popular culture experience into every element of Strange Fruit Vintage. For many of my younger customers, the upcoming Strange Fruit Vintage ‘Pop-Up Shop’ will be an innovative history lesson. For many of my customers it will be a trip down memory lane. For all of my customers it will be an unprecedented opportunity in Memphis to shop for rare eighties attire for one day only,” says owner Shalishah “Petey” Franklin.

The event also consisted of music provided by DJ Homework with a guest performance by rap artist Cities Aviv.

Check out pics below. They were shot by Memphis artist/photographer Ashle Bailey.
