Palin Resigns? "You Betcha"

The scapegoat is gone. Ok, so Sarah Palin has been the butt of many jokes and pegged the villain after the McCain campaign fell into shambles.
As much as I feel that she is a joke, you have to feel sorry for her a bit. I really don't believe she is a capable politician who has a future. She was used as a pawn to draw female and evangelical voters, which she did a pretty good job of. She breathed youth, life, and energy into a dying campaign. She did her job. Fumbling interviews and bad judgment aside, she did what the GOP needed her to do.

She has since resigned after being abandoned by her party. She cited pressure, financial issues, and time constraints as the reasons for her sudden departure. "I am not a quitter. I am a fighter," Palin told CNN on Monday.

I'm no fan of Palin, but perhaps this will give her a chance to regroup and get on with her life. She has a disabled child, other young children, and a new grandchild.
The GOP lifted her up to be a distraction and then tore her to pieces. Their silence about her departure speaks volumes. They never cared about her in the beginning. They chose her not because they believed she was the best choice, but because they intended to dupe the nation. It was only after she crumbled under pressure and ethics issues arose that they began to regret their decision.
She ended up paying for their lack of foresight.

Good riddance.
But godspeed and good luck.
Let the Republican Party clean up their own mess. And what a mess it is...

I'm still breathing sigh after sigh of relief that our nation was *just a bit smarter than that.
